Director of Equities  

Canalyst is looking for a Director of Equities to join our growing team in Vancouver. Reporting to the Head of Equities and co-founder, the successful candidate will oversee our equity research team and the quality control of our equity model database, while working closely with the management team. Increase your knowledge of the technology startup and financial services spaces by managing a variety of integral responsibilities, including: 

  • Overseeing the daily activities of the equity research team in Vancouver, from managing the equity team’s productivity during the the quarterly model updating process of the equity model database, to maximizing internal processes and controls for efficiency and accuracy
  • Checking models across all sectors and geographies for pristine accuracy
  • Working closely with the client success team to fulfill client requests
  • Collaborating with the founders and management team to help steer the strategic direction of the company
  • Representing the company to clients, investors, service providers, recruiters, and prospective employees

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: 

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in fundamental equity research
  • Extremely broad knowledge of industry/sector-specific modeling conventions
  • Genuine love of stocks and an unusually rigorous attention to detail
  • Prior experience leading a sizable analyst team
  • Exceptional work ethic and adaptability
  • Technology and/or startup experience not mandatory but an asset

Equity Research Associate

Canalyst is looking for Equity Research Associates to join our growing team in Vancouver. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to increase their knowledge of the capital markets through a variety of extremely valuable assignments, including: 

  • Creating detailed financial models on both existing and new coverage
  • Conducting historical financial statement analysis and future period forecasting
  • Interacting with our buyside and sellside clients on company-specific questions and requests
  • Providing general research and other company/industry due diligence

 Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, such as investment banking, equity research, investment management, private equity, accounting, or consulting
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, most likely a B.Comm
  • Completion or progress towards a CFA or similar designation
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel skills; knowledge of VBA is a plus
  • Great work ethic and positive attitude
  • Takes pride in exceptional accuracy, especially when working to a tight deadline

DIRECTOR OF MARKETING

Canalyst is looking for a Marketing Director to join our growing team in Vancouver. The successful candidate will oversee the execution of our marketing activities, while collaborating with management to inform strategy and initiate new projects. Expand your knowledge of financial services and technology by managing a variety of integral lead generating and brand-building activities. This is a 12 month contract with a possibility for extension, depending on company and individual performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead generation through an increasing number of channels, including SEO, online and traditional advertising, campaigns, and partnerships
  • Overseeing the daily marketing activities, from social media management to sales collateral creation

  • Executing campaigns for a variety of purposes, including product education and thought leadership
  • Website oversight
  • Acting as a steward of the Canalyst brand, ensuring we are consistent across a multitude of platforms and channels
  • Working closely with the client success team to deliver nurture campaigns and client communications
  • Managing event sponsorship and exhibition opportunities
